Pattern
book specialists join BBSA
Pattern book specialists Pike Textile Display have joined the
BBSA, recognising the growing importance of effective samples
presentation within our industry sector.
Already market leaders in textile presentation, PTD produce around
200,000 pattern books a year from their factories in Cambridgeshire
and as blinds become ever more popular they have established a
solid reputation for quality and reliability in blind sample books
too.

To improve efficiencies and enable larger projects to be handled
in minimum turnaround times, PTD have invested in specialised
equipment for converting materials supplied into samples and then
printing and applying a label to each piece.
Managing Director Jon Allen said “When a new range is being
launched, we work with customers to develop the design specification
by making mock-ups. Then it’s our job to turnaround sample
books as quickly as possible because these are needed from ‘day
one’ to promote the range. So we need the firepower to handle
large numbers of samples while paying close attention to detail.
I refer to our automated kit as our combine harvester because
it’s not needed all the time but when it runs it quickly
eats through the quantities!”
A recent medium-sized project required over 600,000 individual
patterns to be cut, labelled, collated and assembled into finished
binders made in-house in just 4 weeks; the whole project was managed
and co-ordinated by PTD to fit with fabric availability and shipping
plans. As the finished binders were critical to launch timetables
in countries as distant as Australia nothing could be left to
chance. In-house case making helped cut lead time and exacting
quality was maintained. All deadlines were achieved.
Pike are quality assured to ISO 9001 standard.
