Faber’s international strategy
Simultaneously rolling out a new fabrics collection across Europe
and Scandinavia requires in depth planning and total trust in
your suppliers.

Faber have put their trust in Cambridgeshire based specialists
Pike Textile Display to develop, design and complete a brand new
range of customised binders that will withstand the tests of time
(starting with completion in time for the scheduled launch!).
The mammoth task comprised more than 30,000 binders split over
six different types, four languages and 500 different patterns.
In total it has involved forty Pike employees over 20,000 man
hours!
The new look binders feature a combination of screen-print and
foil blocking on a calendered book cloth. The project required
the development of tailor-made labels using a translucent material
which allows black print to be legible on all fabrics including
rich, dark patterns and black. This combined with a special pressure-sensitive
adhesive that would suit all the materials and withstand the rigours
of a 4 year life in the field.
Faber had entrusted Pike with previous sampling jobs and awarded
the new contract on the latter’s capacity, expertise and
proven project management capability.
“This has been a major project for us and Pike has helped
us every step of the way, from working with our development team,
establishing the specification and responding to changes and urgent
requests along the way and, most importantly, delivering on time
for shipment to destinations in Scandinavia, Continental Europe
and the UK. We really appreciated Pike’s flexibility,”
said Faber Project Manager Irene Rekling.
For Pike, Managing Director Jon Allen said “We’re
very pleased with how the collection looks. The six binders display
the client’s pleated, plain and patterned rollers, Roman,
vertical and Venetian designs in a set that has a really strong
and unique brand image. I’m confident that they will look
as good in a few years as they do now, but hope they see plenty
of use!”
